ENG – From late October through the first days of November, the film *Possible Love*, directed by Lee Chang-dong, arrives at Cines Babel (Valencia, Spain), bringing Korean cinema closer to Spanish audiences in its original version with subtitles.

The original Korean title is «가능한 사랑» (*Ganeunghan sarang*), translated as *Possible Love*. The film tells the story of two very different married couples whose lives intersect through a documentary. As a result of this encounter, desires, frustrations and hidden conflicts begin to surface.

The film features a distinguished cast of Korean cinema, including Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong.

One of the defining characteristics of Lee Chang-dong’s films is his social perspective and his portrayal of complex characters facing difficult situations shaped by economic inequality, social exclusion and personal circumstances.

Furthermore, these characters cannot easily be categorised as good or bad; their decisions need to be understood and interpreted on a deeper level.

After watching one of his films, it is common to leave the cinema still thinking about it and reflecting on what you have seen. Often, the film does not provide definitive answers about the characters’ emotions, leaving room for our own interpretation afterwards.

*Possible Love* has also attracted attention beyond South Korea, having been selected to represent the country in the race for the 2027 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. For now, it is South Korea’s official submission and must still go through the Academy’s selection process before becoming one of the nominated films.

The film has a running time of 164 minutes and is screened in Korean with Spanish subtitles at Cines Babel (Valencia, Spain). There are daily screenings at 4 p.m. and occasional screenings at 7 p.m. In addition, following the 7 p.m. screening on Thursday, 29 October, a discussion was held with Gabriel Sung Won Choi, an expert in Korean society and culture.

If you are interested in Korean cinema, *Possible Love* is an opportunity to discover the work of Lee Chang-dong, one of South Korea’s most acclaimed filmmakers, on the big screen in Valencia.
