ENG – In this post I will tell you the first steps you should follow once you arrive in South Korea.
I will tell you my experience from Incheon Airport, which is the main airport for international arrivals, although some flights also arrive at Gimpo Airport.
First thing you will need to do is go through passport control (which is quite simple and quick), and after that you can collect your luggage.
If you haven’t exchanged some money, you will need to. But I recommend you don’t change a lot in the airport, just some pocket money. There are better exchange rates in Seoul.
Like I mentioned in my previous post, at the Airport you will have free Wifi connection, but you will need something else when you leave the area. So, if you don’t have an E-Sim, you need to buy a physical Sim card in the airport. You can also pre-order it online, and pick it up when you arrive.
Next thing you need to figure out is a way to get to Seoul (which is a 50km ride).
There are 3 simple ways:
1 – Train. This is the fastest way, and you can choose either direct train (AREX) or normal All Stop train. Both will arrive at Seoul Station, and from that point you can move by metro, bus or taxi around the city.
Price for AREX train is 9.000 Won for adult and 7.000 Won for kids, plus a 500 Won deposit you get back when you arrive.
Trains run from approximately 5:15 to 23:40 hours. You can check complete timetable in this link.
Price for All Stops Train depend which station you get off, but if you go to Seoul Station, it will cost aprox. 4500 Won. This price is for those who use a Transport card, like T-money card. if you buy single ticket, you need to pay 500 Won deposit.
The T-Money card can be bought in Convenience stores, and you can ONLY pay CASH.
That’s why is important to have some pocket money.
2 – Limusine Airport. There are different lines, and most make stops at main hotels. You can buy ticket in machines they have in the airport. This is the company I used. Price was 17.000 Won. I think is a very good choice since you get to rest comfortably in the ride and also enjoy the first glimpses of the city.
3 – Taxi. There are several types of taxis in Seoul (normal, deluxe, van, international). From the airport most common ones are international, which means the driver will be able to communicate in english. Here you can calculate approximate cost of the ride. It will depend on the distance, how many people there are and the amount luggage you have.
As you can see, the arrival to Seoul is quite simple. Everything works efficiently and will make your trip go smoothly. So now that you arrived, is time to enjoy.

ESP – En este post te diré los primeros pasos que tienes que seguir una vez llegas en Corea del Sur.
Te contaré mi experiencia desde Aeropuerto de Incheon, el principal para llegadas internacionales, aunque algunos vuelos también llegan al aeropuerto de Gimpo.
Lo primero que harás será pasar por control de pasaporte (un trámite rápido y sencillo) y desde allí ya puedes recoger tu equipaje.
Si no has cambiado dinero, tendrás que hacerlo. Te recomiendo no cambiar demasiado en el aeropuerto, sólo lo justo. Hay mejores tarifas de cambio en Seúl.
Como mencioné en mi anterior post, en el aeropuerto puedes usar el wifi gratuito, pero necesitas seguir conectado cuando te dirijas a Seúl. Por lo que si no tienes una E-Sim tendrás que comprar una SIM física en el aeropuerto. También puedes comprarla por internet y recogerla allí.
Lo siguiente que tendrás que decidir es la forma de llegar a Seúl (que está a aprox. 50km).
Hay 3 sencillas formas de desplazarte:
1 – Tren. Esta es la forma más rápida, y puedes elegir el tren directo (AREX) o el tren normal con varias paradas, All Stop train. Ambos llegan a la parada Seoul Station, y desde allí puedes ir a tu hotel en metro, bus o taxi.
EL precio del tren AREX son 9.000 Won para adultos y 7.000 Won para niños, además de un depósito de 500 Won que te devuelven cuando llegas.
Los trenes funcionan desde las 5:15 hasta las 23:40 horas aproximadamente. Puedes ver los horarios exactos en este link.
El precio para el tren normal (All Stops Train) dependerá de en qué estación te bajes, pero si vas a la parada Seoul Station, te costará aproximadamente 4.500 Won. Este precio es para quien utiliza una tarjeta de transporte, como puede ser la T-money card. Si compras un billete sencillo, tendrás que pagar un depósito de 500 Won.
La T-Money card, puedes comprarla en una tienda de conveniencia, pero ten en cuenta que sólo puedes pagar con EFECTIVO. Por eso es importante que cambies algo de dinero al llegar.
2 – Limusine Airport. Hay varias lineas, la mayoría paran en los hoteles principales. Puedes comprar el billete directamente en el aeropuerto, en unas máquinas que tienen y son muy sencillas de usar. Esta es la compañía que yo utilicé. El precio fueron 17.000 Won. Creo que es una muy buena opción, muy cómoda para poder descansar durante el trayecto y disfrutar de las primeras vistas de la ciudad.
3 – Taxi. Hay varios tipos de taxis en Seúl (normal, deluxe, furgoneta, international). Desde el aeropuerto el más común es el internacional, lo cual significa que el conductor podrá comunicarse en inglés. Aquí puedes calcular el costo aproximado del trayecto. Dependerá de la distancia, el número de pasajeros y equipaje.
Como puedes ver, la llegada a Seúl será bastante sencillo ya que todo funciona de forma eficiente y hará que disfrutes de tu viaje.
