ENG – There are few more magical ways to immerse yourself in the history and beauty of Seoul than by wearing a traditional hanbok and strolling through Gyeongbokgung Palace. One of my favorite —and most photogenic— memories from my trip was renting a hanbok and living for a few hours as a princess from the Joseon dynasty.
And if you’re worried that this might offend Korean people, let me tell you that it’s absolutely not the case. On the contrary, they appreciate it, as long as it’s done respectfully.
I had already chosen the place to rent the outfit: Daehan Hanbok. I had seen it on Instagram and it had been recommended to me both for the service and for its location near the palace. Oh, and the boss is super nice. So I had to take a photo with him^^
You can choose the dress and the top in a huge variety of styles and colors, and the accessories are included (bag, hair ornaments, shoes). They also offer hairstyling and makeup services, and even a photoshoot.
They also store your bag/coat in lockers, so you don’t have to carry anything during your visit.
Gyeongbokgung is one of the most majestic palaces in Seoul, and walking through its courtyards, pavilions, and gardens wearing your hanbok gives the whole experience a fairytale feeling. Truly, a unique experience.
And if you go at the right time, you can witness something very special: the royal guard changing ceremony. It takes place twice a day — at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (except on Tuesdays, when the palace is closed).
It lasts about 20 minutes and is held in front of the palace’s main gate, Gwanghwamun Gate.
ESP – Hay pocas maneras más mágicas de sumergirse en la historia y la belleza de Seúl que vistiendo un hanbok tradicional y paseando por el palacio de Gyeongbokgung. Así que uno de mis recuerdos favoritos —y más fotogénicos— de mi viaje fue alquilar un hanbok y vivir por unas horas como una princesa de la dinastía Joseon.
Y si os da reparo que esto pueda ofender a las personas coreanas, ya os digo que para nada es el caso, y al contrario, les gusta, siempre y cuando lo hagamos con respeto.
Para alquilar el traje ya tenía elegido el sitio; Daehan Hanbok. Lo había visto por Instagram y me lo habían recomendado, tanto por el trato, como por estar situado cerca del palacio. Y además el dueño es majísimo, por lo que tenía que sacarme una foto con él^^
Puedes elegir el vestido y la parte de arriba en un montón de modelos y colores y los complementos son gratuitos (bolso, adornos para el pelo, zapatos). También ofrecen servicio de peinado y maquillaje, y hasta sesión de fotos.
Además te guardan tu bolso/abrigo en casilleros, para que no tengas que ir cargada durante la visita.
Gyeongbokgung es uno de los palacios más majestuosos de Seúl y pasear por sus patios, pabellones y jardines con tu hanbok puesto le da un aire de cuento. Sin duda, una experiencia única.
Y si además vas en el momento indicado, puedes vivir algo muy especial: la ceremonia del cambio de guardia real. Ésta se celebra dos veces al día — a las 10:00 h y a las 14:00 h (excepto los martes, cuando el palacio está cerrado).
Dura unos 20 minutos aproximadamente, frente a la puerta principal del palacio, la Gwanghwamun Gate.
